1. My mom would say the same thing. I get all uptight over an argument and she would say "Let it Be"

who died of cancer when he was fourteen, and from time to time he would dream of her. During one of the dreams she said "Let it Be" and that's where the song came from.

I think he was also motivated by the song Lennon wrote about his mother, "Julia," who died when Lennon was seventeen. This often happened, that kind of back and forth. Lennon wrote "Strawberry Fields Forever" about a childhood haunt, and in reply McCartney wrote "Penny Lane." A lot of cross-polination with those two.

3. Yes my mom also died of cancer I was almost 40. Her name was Margaret pretty close to this song

I always sing, mother Margaret came to me speaking words of wisdom. I only wish I would’ve listened more. She was a gentle soul.
