Looks like Charlie Daniels right now.
He claims if Obama is re-elected, there will be "riots."

(33,688 posts)Mike Love on general principles. The man's entire career has been based on Brian Wilson's genius.
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)He was campaigning for #41 in '88, and his crony Bruce Johnstone(the lame-ass keyboard player they brought in when Brian got too crazy to tour) actually calls Obama a socialist(he's quoted doing that in the Rolling Stone article about the Surviving Beach Boy Reunion Tour.)
Other than being blonde and looking semi-studly on stage back in the day, what the hell did Love EVER bring to that group? He can't sing for shit and he also basically ordered the band to stop trying to grow creatively in 1966 or so(it was Love that decided to turn down the Boys invite to Monterey Pop, thereby instantly turning them into a cheesy nostalgia act).
I think having to deal with Mike Love is half the reason Brian lost it in the late Sixties.

I'm pretty sure I don't agree with his politics, but then I don't hate people for being a bit thick about some things. Putting him in the same bucket as Nugent or Daniels is really not fair IMHO.

(20,176 posts)any conversation not including Billy Corgan and John Mayer is incomplete. Love their music but man are they both assholes on a cosmic scale. John Mayer gets special mention for taking advantage of a 17 year old Taylor Swift then bragging about it in the entertainment industry rags.

And yes, Corgan is way overbearing(he truly DESERVED to go bald early)but partially in his defense, James and D'arcy were big-time junkies and anybody else would have kicked them out of the band too.

(8,556 posts)I think he's one of the best musicians of his generation, especially when it comes to songwriting. He's an amazingly prolific songwriter and has penned some real classics. Plus he's always been underrated as a guitarist. He's got serious playing skills.
But yeah, even I admit that he's a total prick. But so many of the great ones are . . .
John Mayer fails in both departments for me. I can't stand his music and I don't get the impression he's a very nice person.

(50,254 posts)in the Eighties, one of the biggest behind-the-scenes music biz douches was a guy named Miles Copeland. To start with, he was the son of a CIA agent. He then became a label head in Britain(and was an outspoken Thatcherite as well)in which role he openly defended the right of record labels to take most of the proceeds from album sales while leaving the people who actually wrote and performed the music with almost nothing.
Further back, you'd also want to include every white-owned label that ever cheated a black r&b group out of its rightful share of royalties.

Mark Morland died in France waiting for a liver transplant, I think. Finally drank himself to death, which is a shame. He was sweet and gorgeous.
