(20,176 posts)Most of the people listed this far are supposedly nice and fun people away from politics (Walker from what I hear is a crook who would steal from his friends...but he's a likable crook)...I've been following the Cantor/Powell race both because I really hate Cantor and because I think the way Dave "Mudcat" Saunders has been running the Powell campaign is the blueprint for how to run against and beat the GOP in heavily-conservative districts...so I'm paying attention. Beyond that, I live in DC and I have friends who work both sides of the aisle and both chambers of Congress and I hear the gossip.
Eric Cantor has few friends outside of professional associates; even the people that know him personally and away from politics think he's a dick. I cannot imagine going through life without any friends and generally only tolerated by the people closest to me.

(3,626 posts)both dicks. Joe Wilson (R-SC) is the dick who shouted 'you lie' and Joe Walsh (R-IL) is the dick who's the deadbeat dad. Good choices. Out of the endless selection available, one of my choices is Jean Schmidt (R-OH) for her calling Murtha a coward. Frankly, although less prominent, with few exceptions the (R) women turn my stomach. Maybe because I used to have the crazy notion that if more women were elected, the better off we'd be. Boy, was I ever wrong.

(37,648 posts)they'd be more inclined to be compassionate, speaking as a woman myself, but the Republican women are definitely not compassionate. Maybe even less so than the men.

(16,984 posts)That some of them are as bad as some of the men, I'd agree with. That they're worse than the worst of the men, no.

(37,648 posts)talking about how bad it is to provide contraception to poor women, or why it's wrong for women whose lives are in danger to get abortions, yeah, that's WORSE than a man saying it or believing it.
Women are their worst enemies. Always have been.
CBHagman
(16,984 posts)I don't buy the "female is deadlier than the male" notion, not by a long chalk, not given world events, past and present.

(37,648 posts)During the suffragette movement, and before, back to Englad, WOMEN forcefully fought the rights of women, insisting that things remain the same, that it is right they not be able to own property, vote, go to school, etc. It is a woman's natural duty to learn to sew, run a household, be a mother, and the like. It continued through the women's rights movement in the '60's (Phyllis Schafley, Anita Bryant, others).
It carries more weight with your enemies when one of your own stands up and condemns your groups' attempts at gaining rights.
I've read stories in England written by women, talking about how women should learn to sew, learn the alphabet, but little more, or else it will clutter her mind and interfere with her domestic duties, etc. It's called the mindset of the times or something like that.
It would be like a group of gays holding a press conference and insisting that gays not have anti-discrimination rights in employment, should not be allowed in the military, etc.
This is history. It's well documented. Women have ALWAYS been their own worst enemies. You can count on it, it's so reliable. It's not MOST women, but most certainly, there is always a group of women who side on the anti-woman side.
I remember women fighting employment rights for women in the '60s. Why? Because it was not natural for women to work outside the home, and it would take much needed jobs away from men, the breadwinners. I remember even Connie Francis, the singer-actress, talking about the feminist movement on a talk show and how she was against it...she was Italian and wanted to be treated like a lady, etc., not like another man.
They're still around, the women who are against women. They are these days usu. religious (Bachman). Schafley is still alive, I think. These women do these things, all the while having the RIGHT to do those things BECAUSE of the feminist movement. After all, THEY aren't at home cooking, are they?

Of course he never apologized and received only a slap on the wrist from the faa.

(10,893 posts)-Satantorum compared homosexuality to bestiality.
-Bush 2 lied about WMDs.
-McConnell the Turtle stated his priority of ruining PBO's re-election chances.
-Bachmann has been spreading malicious rumors about people being involved in the Muslim Brotherhood.
-Ron Paul uses social security, yet expects poor people to not use it.
-Raygun provided the blueprint for vulture capitalism.
There's more from where that came from, but I don't feel like typing out a whole laundry list on here...

(16,984 posts)You mean the guy who carried the poster showing the president's head on a spike? I saw the footage of that but didn't get an ID. People from the crowd were shouting that that was a set-up, but I didn't know if that was an attempt to thwart an interview.

(20,234 posts)I watched the rerun of the town meeting where they were calling for his resignation. Person after person stood up to say how repugnant he was. Followed by his wife - who was everything you'd expect a teaparty person to be. I thought I was going to have to get up and get a towel to wipe her mouth-foaming off my tv.

(54,349 posts)The angry, nasty, Rep. James Sensenbrenner, (R, of course,-WI).
Louie Gohmert is nipping at his heels, and Yertle McConnell thinks he can make a challenge soon, but Sensenbrenner for pure meanness and arrogance beats them all hands down. Gohmert is too stupid to be as evil and McConnell watches his step more than Sensenbrenner solely because he is on camera more often.
