Reel Crime! Best Cop Movies? Thinking about this as I read about the death of Greg Powell this

morning. Powell and his partner Jimmy Smith aka Youngblood kidnapped officers Ian Campbell and Karl Hettinger after being stopped on a traffic violation. Powell mistaken in thinking he was subject to the death penalty for the abduction decided to kill Campbell and Hettinger. As he shot Campbell in the face Hettinger escaped.

The movie The Onion Field is an adaption of the book by the same name by Joseph Wambaugh. It is filled with great performances but the standout is that by John Savage as Det. Karl Hettinger.
