Unwanted email question

I am being inundated with unwanted email ads...dozens a day. This is fairly recent. I've tried blocking them but every sender has a different address and I've tried to unsubscribe and I get an error message. Does anyone know what I can do to stop this?

in some email software you can stop/block any email whose sender is not in your address book. Plus do not unsubscribe to these because it lets them know that they have a valid email address. I do not open email that I don't 'know'.

good luck with this these are as annoying as spam phone calls.

Fortunately, almost all of it immediately goes to my Junk folder. I persistently get two or three in my inbox, which I delete without opening. The Junk folder, however, has up to 150 at any one time — so I just take out the trash on a daily basis.

Blocking or unsubscribing usually does little good, I’ve found.

And review that daily before dumping in case something non-spam lands in it.

Yes, it has happened to me, and it sometimes seems like it happens after I've signed up to be on a new mailing list with an online store or something. It is so sudden and profuse that there must be a reason. Then I do the spam folder thing and they eventually dissipate.

I realized that if I even engage enough to "unsubscribe" that I am giving them more information and energy. That is to be avoided. Life is too short!

Good luck.

and it was really good about sorting junk and spam. The past week or so, it's letting all kinds of junk through. Makes me wonder if there's been a breach or something.

1. newsletters (gmail)
2. bank, doctor, family (icloud )

————

Both gmail and icloud allow “throwaway” (“alias”) addressess. (nomenclature varies)

So, on both of these accounts, don’t disclose the main address.

———

it won’t be long before you don’t care about the old addresses.

Ask for assistance from a neighborhood geek. 2 heads are better than 1.
