My buddy was in one of the local community theatre groups where I lived in SE
Pennsylvania. He scored a small role in "Guys and Dolls". The female lead was
fantastic, this gum-cracking, WIDE-eyed, squeaky Bronx bottle-blonde-ringlet-
haired not-very-bright gun moll who was out-Judy-Hollidaying Judy Holliday.
.
I got to go to the cast party after the final show and when she walked in the
door, I was THUNDER-STRUCK. She was this soft-spoken, witty, bright, shapely,
panther-like woman with straight, silky strawberry-blonde hair down to her butt
and beyond.
.
My immediate impression (seriously) was that I had just met the woman with
whom I was going to spend the rest of my life (I was one cocky romantic).
.
Then, HE joined us, gave her a cocktail and slipped his arm round her waist.
.
To paraphrase Alanis Morrisette from "Ironic":
.
"It's meeting the woman of my dreams
And then meeting her impossibly perfect husband."
.
I still managed to have a great time, but envied my buddy his experiences in
community theatre.
