"I've Got A Name"

In case the GOP convention makes you stomach quiver here's how I spell relief: The late Jim Croce

I believe that this video was filmed within a day or two before the fatal airplane crash of in '73. Damn its almost been 39 years!

An excellent tribute site for Jim's amazingly creative and talented guitarist Maury Muehleisen is here:

Had Jim lived he would have come to represent my generation well.

Jim Croce signed one of the worst deals ever in music. ABC took him to the cleaners. His wife had to fight for years to recoup royalties due to him while he was alive. Before he made it big, he was so disillusioned with the music business that he took straight jobs and nearly gave it up had he not met Maury. Totally undeserving fate for one of the great talents of the 1970s.

"Operator" is my favorite of his songs. The Martin Guitar Co. made a Jim Croce edition. As a nod to this song, they embedded a 1973 dime in each guitar's fret board, I believe at the fifth fret. I have always coveted this guitar.
