I have a strange new addiction - Buying giant boxes filled with old jewelry

I'm on my third box. My friend and her oldest daughter are going to help me sort it.

If you go to Ebay there are folks that sell old jewerly by the pound. Normally it's old costume jewelry. Very rarely do you get anything with gold or silver in it. But honestly, it's fun sorting thru all that stuff finding something that you might want to wear. I also am beading again some some of the broken stuff I breakdown into parts for future jewelry projects.

The last box (btw that was the one where I found the 2 Nazi coins) had 20 pairs of earrings that once cleaned were nice enough to add to my own jewelry collection. Over the weekend my friend and her daugher looked thru the stuff and they pulled out several pieces they wanted to keep (including this really neat beaded safety pin bracely that looks real punk rock - my friend daughter kept that one.

Will the team from hoarders show up at my house one day with me burned in pounds of cheap jewelry?

Thanks, but I am sure I will keep it, just because it belonged to family members. :^) GreenPartyVoter Aug 2012 #4

List the stuff you don't want on Ebay. Just make a giant grab box. They seem to go for pretty decent prices.

There are some big fat jewelry lots being sold every day by goodwill stores around the country. And the proceeds go to the charity.

It's just amazing what people donate to them. More good stuff than they can handle!
