(7,080 posts)and anything from that family of veggies. I do make a mean oxtail soup using a ton of cabbage in it but only I eat it.

(2,163 posts)This sounds very similar to the recipe my grandfather would make - every time we visited he made stuffed cabbage. Dessert was always vanilla ice cream with a splash of creme de menthe.

(7,080 posts)He made the ginger snap gravy. The rest of the family just watched him eat it. We were aghast!
Stuffed cabbage rolls ("pigs in a blanket" in my family) were a staple at our Polish/Bavarian/Austrian family holiday dinners.
I like stuffed peppers, too--either stuffed bell peppers or Cubanelles stuffed with Italian sausage.

(524 posts)I will take Stuffed Peppers over Galumpkis any day of the week and twice on The Weekend. Stuffed Peppers are especially good if you can find a gardener who grows Mexibell peppers and is willing to share. A couple of Stuffed Mexibell Peppers topped with a couple of drops of Melinda Hot Sauce is a great meal.

(70,674 posts)Made Chili Rellano for the first time a few weeks ago.
It's a stuffed pepper with southwest spices, but a pablano pepper is used instead of a bell pepper.
We enjoyed them a lot.
This was the basis recipe I followed but I diverged spice wise quite a bit.

(70,674 posts)...is cinnamon. It's another warming spice that adds a lot of depth. Works well with cumin.
Also, I added brown sugar to counter the heat of the cayenne & ancho chili powders.

Am very intrigued by the gingersnap recipes. I've only ever used them for a pie crust, but will look for the kind of combos with cabbage that people have mentioned here. Thx.deb.

(24,347 posts)They are so much sweeter than the green ones. Never had stuffed cabbage so can't compare.
I really love both, but will never again try stuffed grape leaves. They taste like cigar butts soaked in water.
