Whatcha having for New Year's Day dinner?...

Last edited Sat Dec 31, 2011, 11:47 PM - Edit history (2)

I'm having..

Black eyed peas, collard greens, mac n cheese, ham, chicken, mashed sweet and white taters, cornbread, and I know I'm forgetting something.

I'll be with my family and that's always fun.

What are you eating/doing?

A staple tomorrow!

This evening is a cheese and shrimp soup with leeks!

Oh, and fresh bread from my neighbor.

Happy New Year!

Though I let mine simmer all day in the crock pot vs. roasting it these days. I'll make mashed potatoes later to go with it.

I grew up in PA, and even though I have been living south of the Mason Dixon for more than half of my life now, I just haven't been able to trade my pork & kraut for black eyed peas & rice.

cold shrimp and red cocktail sauce, lil smokies in bbq sauce, tortilla chips w/velveeta and salsa cheese dip, hot chicken wings, pretzels, chips and veggies plus ranch dip, mixed nuts

a cherry pie (husband's contribution)

there is several kinds of cheese in the fridge if somebody needs that, and a bit of fruit and even some chocolates left from xmas.

I have corona, bud, wines, two bottles of bubbly and various other booze but probably going to stick with beer and open one champ. if we make it to midnight. This may be tough as we worked cattle today and I am pretty beat - it was freaking almost 80 degrees today!

It was a lot warmer than usual here today too--Delaware. I had my front window cracked and my slider open.

You spread sounds a lot like what I do for the Superbowl minus the shrimp..hubby developed a bad allergy to shell fish. He used to love it too...
