Even though they are highly touted by others?
For me? Will Ferrell.
He is just *NOT* funny or even a good actor.
Rachel Maddow used the clip of him "leading" a streaking, ended up all by himself.
I didn't find it funny in the least.

Every time I see him in anything I really wonder what it is about him that irks me so. He really is a talented actor, rather handsome and I've heard nothing noxious about his personal character that would offend me. It's just something...When I see he's in a movie I just think...ewwww it's a Kevin Kline movie. It's pure unadulterated bias on my part not rooted in reality. Maybe he killed my dog in another life.

What I don't understand is why actors and actresses allow themselves to be cast repeatedly in movie where they play morons.
Doc Holliday
(719 posts)There was a really tacky movie that came out in '89 starring Don Johnson called Dead Bang. There is a scene in there where he has an interview with a police psychologist who looks a lot (to Don) like Woody Allen. During the interview, Don chuckles a few times for no apparent reason, and eventually the P.P. asks him why. Don tells him it's because he looks like Woody Allen. The P.P. apparently is not a fan, because he reacts badly and cuts the interview short. Don responds by telling him that if he is taken off his current case because the PP has a problem with his unfortunate resemblance to Woody Allen, Don will make it his mission in life to cause him misery.
Long story short-- Don gets to stay on his case. His captain calls him and gives him the news; after the call is done, Don hangs up the phone and starts chuckling to himself, "Woody fuckin' Allen...."
(By the way, the best part of that particular film is the soundtrack. This was a flashback, not a recommendation.)

unworthy of liberals.
.
I agree with others above about people like Adam Sandler and Steven Segal...
but because they're one-dimensional one-trick ponies who can't actually act
(though Sandler's songs are funny).
.
.
.
No offense... but not watching an actor's character in a production because
of the actor's beliefs kinda seems to ME a mirror image of those poor folks
who actually attack actors in real life because of the hateful nature of their
soap opera characters.
.
And the reason of "not contributing to their success/income" by watching their
films is an ineffectual and symbolic gesture that actually punishes the boycotter
rather than the boycottee by the self-censorship of some work that actually has
some value outside of the political arena.
.
.
.
And James Belushi -- his "According to Jim" TV series was pretty funny and he
was Oscar-worthy as supporting actor to James Woods in the movie "Salvador" --
one I HIGHLY recommend to anyone.

Van Damme/Seagal/Schwarzenegger. Whup-ass with funny accents. Bleh. I should jump on the Bruce Willis bandwagon, but reviewing his body of work, I just can't. I like him.
John Wayne. (except for The Shootist...awesome film)
Seth Rogen. How he got picked for the male lead in Knocked Up is a puzzle for the ages. (I mean, come ON! According to the film's writers, a hottie like Katherine Heigl couldn't do any better than that?)
Quentin Tarantino. Awesome writer/director...shitty actor.
LL Cool J. Probably thought he was the next Ice-T, even without his talent. He was all right in that '02 remake of Rollerball (the one with the Keanu lookalike) and Any Given Sunday, but to give him a series? Naaah! (15,164 posts)There are a few I tend to avoid and/or generally find off-putting
Kate Bosworth -For some reason I've never taken a liking to her. To make it worse, I'm not sure if I've even seen anything that she's in but there's something I find really off-putting about her
Rikki Lake -She can't act period
Demi Moore -I don't go out of my way to purposely avoid her and I suspect that some of her brat pack stuff is quite good. Most of the movies she's been in just don't appeal to me -"Ghost", in which she was great, being a notable exception
Will Ferrell -he comes across as overrated with a high opinion of himself that is not reflected in his acting abilities
Katie Holmes -another one I just find irritating.
Amy Adams -Something about her demeanor or her acting that I find slightly off-putting
Mary Louise Parker -I've seen her in some good stuff but her performance in the West Wing just irritated the heck out of me and she's been less than impressive in some of her other movies as well.
Julia Roberts -had a few good movies but also a few bad ones and her acting in many of them has not been particularly impressive. Highly overrated
Reba McEntire -Not funny, overrated and I've since learned she's a right winger. The combination of the three is enough for me
Roseanne Barr -She was mildly entertaining in Roseanne but her persona has always annoyed me and I think she's very overrated. I do give her credit for her advocacy on GLBT issues, though
