I was reading last week, apparently they're more adaptable than we realized and are not in very much real danger compared to other species, like moose and wolves.

I teach a unit on polar bears. The books from our library still describe them as endangered. I hope their environment can be maintained.

Here's a really good but extremely long, interesting though, article on the subject: http://www.psmag.com/environment/endangered-polar-bear-global-warming-climate-change-arctic-sea-ice-50450/

It starts with the conventional wisdom and changes POV as the author comes to doubt that line of thinking during his observations. Nobody questions that there's a problem, but the scientists with the most-dire and extreme predictions (Steven Amstrup, famous for his prediction that polar bears will be extinct by 2050, for example) are the ones that have caught the public's attention.

So are reel to reel and cassette tapes.
There are entire genres of music that are only released on vinyl and cassette.

8 track tapes?
Not so much...

name me one other media that mid-track goes "click-click" and changes side. It's an entirely unique experience from any other medium, to have your song interrupted by the change of the track.

Also, how else can you listen to the same 2 songs by "Mott the Hoople" non-stop for 6 hours puking your guts out because you did nutmeg with your girlfriend and split a handle of cheap vodka before she harshed your mellow by breaking up with you while being a disembodied floating head.

Sounds as if you have a LOT of experiences which may never get passed down.

Hint: disembodied people are usually worth breaking up with.
altho probably cheaper maintenance than whole people.

I don't miss 8-tracks one bit, though by and large they did sound a tiny bit better than cassettes.

I wish I had the money and space to get some good stereo equipment and start building a vinyl collection.

I find the real keyboard, large monitor and mouse to be major advantages over using a laptop or a tablet.
