until your coworkers are feeling better.

We're doing everything we can to skip the flu . . . except for getting a shot.

Good luck to you on staying well too.

I wish to God I did. I still have it after two weeks and it damn near seriously killed me. I still feel like I'm 90 years old. THere are a lot of different strains out there this year, but I got the truly evil one and I have no idea how. I hadn't been anywhere nor around anyone for over a week so I have no idea how in the world I caught it. The only possibility I can come up with is that one night while walking the dog he grabbed a couch pillow out of someone's trashcan that was out by the curb for trash collection in the morning (the streets around us including ours are the first ones for pick up at like 6 a.m., so most everyone puts their trash out the night before. Anyway, I had to pull the pillow out of his mouth and drop it back in the trashcan, but when I got home from walking him I still immediately washed my hands like always. That's the only thing I can possibly think of how I caught this to begin with.

This was absolutely the worst case of flu I've ever had. I'm totally serious that in the first three or four days I seriously thought I might die and so did the dog. Worse, I didn't even care if I died or not at the time - it was THAT bad. The only thing I cared about was getting the dog in and out of the yard to go to the bathroom and feeding him every day and making sure he always had relatively fresh water to drink... and I'm honestly not sure that I did that since I think there may have been an entire 24 hour period where I never let him out nor fed him though he didn't mess in the house and he didn't seem to care since he was so busy hovering over me constantly. He even slept with me in the bed which he never does because he's very bushy haired and the bed is too warm for him.

I actually don't have much memory at all of those first few days other than I know I never peed but once or twice though I kept about two dozen or so of bottles of water next to the bed to drink and drank every drop, but I think my fever cooked it all away so I never had to pee in all that time other than once or twice. The only thing I really remember other than crawling on my hands and knees up and down the stairs to deal with the dog's needs is that after those first few days I was lying in bed finally able to think again (though not very rationally but at least I recognized that I was thinking again) feeling like I finally should pee and seriously contemplating whether or not I should drag my ass to the bathroom or just wiz in the bed. I actually decided to pee in the bed but fell asleep again, and the next time I woke up (whenever that was) I was finally feeling better enough to crawl to the bathroom (so luckily I never actually did pee in the bed, but I swear I would have had I really needed to go). It was over a week before I finally made the big move from the bed to the couch occasionally.

I realize that people actually do die from the flu, but never in my life have I ever even heard of a flu virus this bad nor ever imagined a generally healthy active person like me could or would actually die from it.

For the love of all that's holy get the damn shot. Had I any idea it could be this bad I would have begged to get one three times a day for months and four times on Sunday. Now I'm scared shitless that I could still get another strain as now I have like zero immunity and seriously compromised overall health after fighting this one - battling another illness in my present condition very well could kill me. I don't know when or if I can get a flu shot though to help protect me from the other strains, and by this time I HAVE to go out to the bank and to get groceries so have to come in contact with people whose state of health I don't know.

Do NOT fuck around risking this virus from hell. I mean it.

The pisser is that our employer is quite generous with the PTO, and very little is said if you miss a day or two. 18 days at 1-5 years, 23 days at 5-10 years, and 28 days at over 10 years.

I've been in bed since Friday night. Today's the first day I've been up to do more than get soup or a drink.
