(20,776 posts)But I want to know which films people liked and would see again. Even in a list can be some duds.. movies that just came off wrong, and that people didn't like. I would like to know which popular ones people on DU liked... and I have access to pretty much any of those films. (Most of them.) Thanks

(8,217 posts)However, he did go for a lot of movies from different country to be able to be released in the US.
Iron Monkey and Sukiyaki Western Django are examples of movies he "Produced" as in, brought to the US.
Another one of them is Curdled, which came to my attention due to Slash's instrumental song called "Obsession Confession".

(10,962 posts)The cab-driver in Pulp Fiction who wants to find out about killing a man is inspired/ripped off from Curdled. Same actress plays in both. It's about a woman obsessed with death who works for a forensic cleaning service and gets entangled with a serial killer.
As I understand it, Tarantino saw a short film version of it, adapted the character for Pulp Fiction, then financed the actual film.
Along the same lines, the Winston Wolf character from Pulp Fiction was lifted from the Cleaner in Point of No Return (the American version of La Femme Nikita) - although Tarantino didn't have anything to do w/ Point. Both were played by Harvey Keitel though.

(12,132 posts)That was fun. I admit to at least liking everything I know of that he's been involved with. Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are 2 of my favorite movies of all time. My wife and I both loved Django Unchained.

(20,776 posts)have a signed Kill Bill poster, with QT and Uma Thurmon. It was on my wall but has since been packed away.. One of my favorite posters.
I will look for that movie, thanks again!

(2,208 posts)After watching part one for about the 4th time, my wife said "you watch... he'll do a sequel in about 10 years where this little girl comes looking The Bride..."
(p.s. - my wife works with Uma's brother, and my niece went to school with Uma's daughter. for whatever that's worth!)

(12,723 posts)His segment of Four Rooms is kind of fun. It's based upon the old Roald Dahl story Man from the South.
He did not direct Western Sukiyaki Django he only acts in it and he only directed one scene in Sin City to test digital background work which he decided he hated.
AsahinaKimi
(20,776 posts)I thought he was a larger part to the movie than just acting but yeah okay.. I fixed the error. thanks

(10,962 posts)Each short takes place in a different room at a hotel on New Years Eve. Tim Roth is the bellboy involved in each room. Tarantino directed and starred in his room - w/ Bruce Willis. Robert Rodriguez did a funny room as well. The other rooms were meh.
RiffRandell
(5,909 posts)It's 2 movies--Planet Terror and Death Proof. Robert Rodriguez and QT collaborated and RR directed Planet Terror which is about zombies (yeah!) and QT stars in it. Really liked it.
Didn't much care for Death Proof which QT directed, but you may enjoy it.

Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette star. Gary Oldman is CHILLING... as only he can be --
and you may not recognize him at first.
.
Bronson Pinchot (Balkie from the TV sitcom "Perfect Strangers" and Serge from Eddie
Murphy's "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise) provides EXCELLENT comic relief (especially when
he gets pulled over by the police -- I DARE you not to laugh... you'll know when).
.
It gets cartoonish sometimes (especially with the uber-violence), but it also has what
more than a few would claim to be THE best scene ever filmed (yes... ever) between two
top actors truly on their game -- Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper (you may end up
playing that scene over and over and over again).

.
First time I saw a Tarentino film, I didn't like it ("Reservoir Dogs" . I don't know what was
wrong with me that day as I now love that film AND not all, but the majority of Tarentino's
work.

(20,776 posts)True Romance was great but I wondered why Christopher Walken was only in a few scenes, he seemed to fade way towards the end of the movie.. like their might be a sequel?
At any rate, I have Reservoir Dogs, Four Rooms, Grindhouse and Dusk Till Dawn to watch. I might be able to sneak them all in tonight. I would love to hear more suggestions!

(21,925 posts)Lots of action, violence, and women. In other words, quintessential Tarantino. And I think Kurt Russel was perfect for the role.

(10,962 posts)Could just be because him and Robert Rodriguez were always working together.
Killing Zoe is another early one I think he produced - his usual producer Lawrence Bender directed it. Caper gone awry with hostages in a bank set in Paris. Starred Eric Stoltz, I was really into Tarantino when it came out hot after Pulp Fiction and I didn't care for it.
