(46,179 posts)I have, in addition to cat, dog, and horses, one hair sheep. She sheds short (2-3 inches) hairy wool profusely all spring long, until she is sleek and looks like a goat for the summer.
The dog, though, is the worst. She's the best dog ever, but she sheds that undercoat 365 days a year, and, except for when I clip her in the summer, she leaves enough hair in the house to stuff a small pillow every single week. She's hard on vacuums. Bare (no carpet) floors and a shop vac is the only way to keep up.

My husband's been trying to turn this place into a petting zoo daily. He would LOVE to get a goat as well....
As it is, I have to sweep all the time (most of my lower level is bare wood just for that reason). I'm more of a slacker though when it comes to vacuuming the throw rugs and furniture though...

(46,179 posts)can't be thrown in the washer and dryer, it gets thrown out, lol. I fold old blankets for dog (and cat; they share) beds around the place so that the dog doesn't always have to be on the bare floor. They can be tossed into the washer and dryer with no problem.
I have chickens too, but their molting doesn't intrude in any way. They free range, the dog protects them, and they are the easiest critter on the place to care for.
I'd be leery of the goats; they browse on everything, climb, and are escape artists. They make good horse companions, though. That's what my single sheep does; keeps the old retired mare company when I take the other two out, so she doesn't get stressed at losing her herd.

(115,280 posts)And breakfast, and lunch, and all manner of fashion and interior decorating. There is enough fur under my radiators to construct a whole 'nother cat with.
And I am trying to write around Milo, my Gatto di Tutti Gatti, 16 pounds of love in a fur sack. This is why I have to get the innards of my computer cleaned out periodically.
