(32,078 posts)I prefer more salmon in my cream cheese, but it works in a pinch. Smoked salmon is pretty much out of reach for me, right now, but with a sale and a coupon, I can have that enjoyment.

(34,135 posts)The Vermont Seriously Sharp is really good - if you like REALLY sharp cheese. Hubby says it takes the enamel off his teeth, but he'll eat mild cheddar if given a choice.
By the way, try making your own cream cheese with chives sometimes - you will not want the pre-made stuff again. I mixed up some from scratch for a holiday thing - fresh chives snipped into tiny bits with scissors and beaten into plain cream cheese. Maybe add a little cream to get the right consistency for crackers. Let it meld overnight and it is soooooo good! I may have put a little masked up garlic in there, too, but I don't think so.
I also made some cream cheese with sun-dried tomato spread and more chives - that was lovely, too.

Top with a bit of fig or other jam..nothing too sweet.
Or, you can do some salty ham and a dollop of mustard.
