Really exciting, huh? But its an easy $20 and maybe it will lead to more exciting roles...

(6,011 posts)its owner had stepped onto it on the floor next to her bed and the screen cracked.
He ordered a screen for ~$45.00 and put it in himself, thanks to an instructional video someone had made and put on the internet.
Pretty good deal!

Like this person is doing...be sure to read the description..

Fool! She's asking $62.00 for hers! I bet I could get at least $20.00 for mine, and I'll bet my feet smell way worse than hers do!
PS...people will buy literally anything.

(20,176 posts)Not unlike the Japanese schoolgirls who sell their dirty panties on the internet. I don't get it but hey if it works for some people.

(21,020 posts)I don't get it either.
OK maybe the feet.
But stinky socks?
Oh, and I love the bit about them being "cleaned to eBay standards" but still having to be enclosed in plastic bag to disguise the smell. Hahahaah!!!

(20,176 posts)Making no accusations against you personally, the floor of the writing market has fallen out because way too many people who are barely fucking literate fancy themselves a writer and are willing to work for nothing or nearly nothing in order to justify their delusion.
At the same time the quality of published writing has fallen precipitously because content-publishers don't care how good the work is, they're solely looking at the bottom line and advertisers will pay just as much to put an ad on an article written by some HS dropout willing to work for $0 as one written by someone with a humanities BA and substantial writing skill and education (eg. me) who demands to be paid fair value for their work-product.
The whole thing is a mess and as writers I feel the obligation is going to fall to us to protect the quality-standards and viability of our field.
ScreamingMeemie
(68,918 posts)No, I'm not barely fucking literate. It's what I do on, and off, platforms for very decent money. No, I don't work for TextBroker, Demand etc. The job I am speaking of demands a rather high level of education from its contractors. I'm quite confident I am in no way, destroying the quality of the public written word.
Feeding my son pretty much comes above everything else. Those who fall short for the company I contract with are swiftly shown the door.

(20,176 posts)I'm talking about the idiots who can't put together a sentence, present a cohesive thought or spell who are taking money from both of us writing for barely-legitimate content-mills that then peddle that shit-content cheap to everybody from small web-publishers to Yahoo! pushing quality-content out of the marketplace as too expensive. It's driving down compensation for everybody.
We're both getting underpaid because of their cutthroat bottom-dollar practices...there's a time when writing professional-grade web-content paid a hell of a lot more than $20/article. Now, we're both in the same spot, take a pittance to write content or they're just as happy to use the content-mill crap because it's cost-effective to publish unreadable crap that doesn't cost anything and whatever they make on advertisement click-through is all profit.

(20,234 posts)so I would do something passive. Sometimes I use the endorse app on my phone, last week I got back 10% off gassing up my car, and $3 off a bag of coffee. Since I was buying those things anyway, it was a no brainer to get the cash for it. It was only 7 bucks, not 20, but it took about a minute to check the offers for the week, and another minute to snap/upload the receipts.
