Had gone to the city that day to buy a water bed and meant to get home in time to watch it and knew we would miss it, but the furniture store had a tv and even tho they were closing they let us stay and watch it and they locked up and watched it with us.

Funny... I haven't thought about this in a long time, but I suddenly recall that someone gave me the script to that famous final episode as leaked to -- I think -- the National Enquirer. It turned out to be entirely accurate, sadly enough, thus rather spoiling the episode for me.

I actually always thought McLean's role was somewhat based on Gen. Waverly in White Christmas.

But the jarring off screen ending.

Was in basic training at Ft Jackson. Wasn't watching it much by then. Hotlip's razor cut hairdo was a little too much. It was feeling forced toward the end.

And how many episodes about it being too cold or too hot or they reallllllly wanted a_____ because they missed being home. But, it was a very good show for a long time before it got stale.

But then "MASH" had long since jumped the shark before the finale anyway, so I guess the finale shouldn't have been such a big disappointment.

To me, it's right up there with the "St. Elsewhere" series finale as being about the worst I've seen, and I was a huge fan of both shows. The "MASH" finale was overblown, preachy, and sadly badly acted. To say I felt cheated as a loyal viewer of both goes without saying.

But other people's mileage may vary.

and they completely lost sight of it supposedly being the 50's. The haircuts alone were just horrible.

I agree it was a good last show but it was a really big event at the time....when there were only 3 TV stations.

I was a huge fan of the show. I still watch the reruns but somehow toward the middle of its run the anti-war theme began to be a cudgel. The show just started to take itself way too seriously. The characters lost their edge, and it just wasn't funny anymore. But still, I recall really looking forward to the finale, and feeling let down afterward. I was in sixth grade when MASH started, and it ended my senior year in college. That's a LONG time.

I listened to it on audio book. An incredicidle story of a chaotic family and his walking on the set having NOTHING in common with his character.

He was a kid on a road show. His parents never considered that he had to go to school. His mother had a lot of mental troubles.

Carl Reiner after reading the book said, "You have every reason to be f@#&ed up"

but not to argue but the final show actually dealth with PTSD. You would have thought that it really raised awareness (maybe it did) but it was remarkable for them to actually deal with the after effects of a war. Still it was preachy.

I found the episode completely upsetting, and I had to leave the room after the part with Hawkeye & the "chicken." I probably missed anything that came after that scene. I've never watched it since.

and the first CD that went into the new (used) van I just bought is Mozart

"Mozart in Prague" is the name of the album I bought in my early teens - 33lp

back then you could take the album into a booth and listen to it before you bought it

Most of my listening is what I call soft rock, but listen to almost anything from metal, country to rap when the mood strikes me

I guess I'm sorta a music slut -

The ONLY person to show up was a great friend and at the time, our drug dealer.

We played two sets and the bartender asked if we wanted to watch the final episode of MASH.....

We did.
