The most amazing circus act I ever saw.
When I was five years old in the 50s, my mom and dad took me to see the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. The featured act of the evening in the center ring was “The Great Unus”. He was a middle-aged man who came out in a top hat and tails with gloves on his hands and proceeded to do a hand stand on a large crystal ball lifting his entire body up in the air and balancing his entire weight on just one finger. He would also climb up on a crystal ball and put all his weight on a cane while doing a juggling act. Supposedly he was discovered by the circus performing this act in nightclubs in Austria and it was completely real. I think he could have chosen a different name, however.
