So, it turns out that Swiss women are still just women.

Some may remember my thread from last week asking for advice. I went on a date with a girl last week which I thought was totally goodnight-kiss-worthy, but which she tried to end with a handshake.

She came over again two days ago, and we both agreed that it had been totally goodnight-kiss-worthy, and this has been rectified.

Now I'm just pissed that I only have temporary Swiss residency.

As an aside, this was a totally successful result of online dating, so there's hope, folks!

Hell, my friend Manfred's wife is Chilean, and they've got three kids, so that's four new Swiss people right there!

I'm a Swiss resident right now, but my residency permit times out when my current job is done later this year. I'm already thinking about looking for other jobs here, as it's an amazing country. I really didn't expect to like it as much as I do.

When I'm down there, I'm usually only there for day trips to ZH, GE, BS or SG, but the whole country is VERY likeable, no two ways about it.

Before coming here, the longest I'd been in CH was two or three days in Bern, which was beautiful, but stupidly expensive - I can't imagine trying to live here without getting paid in Swiss Francs. I've also been to Basel just for a day on a few occasions but never saw much more than the train station.

Basel actually is a cool city, although not huge (but then what Swiss city is?). It's super-convenient if you have stuff to do in either Germany or France. Otherwise, ZH is THE place to be (or GE or TI). Lugano is so insanely beautiful, I think a street bum in Lugano is happier than billionaire in Dallas, although I'll never be either, so that's just speculation on my part.

The price of just about ANYTHING is stupidly expensive in Switzerland. It's their insanely expensive currency. Although--if you want to see how much greener the grass is in Switzerland, try going up to Norway for a weekend. By the time you get back, Switzerland will seem like Guatemala by comparison.
