And I wanted to get a piece of that rational and sensible thinking.

In many cases they're high school-era friends from long ago, before I had really articulated my own political thinking. I'd lost touch with most of them for many years, but if I'd had to guess, I would have been correct in predicting their political views about 10 times out of 10.

however I would have only been accurate on 9 out of 10 - and the one I would have missed was my little brother. He's still crazy religious but now he's madder at the fundamentalists we grew up with than he is at me for being an atheist (not much madder, mind you). But he thinks it's a mistake for them to be so vehemently against marriage equality and helping the poor and a lot of other things the right wingers love to whine about.

I would have pegged him for right-wing conservative straight down the line - and he was for a while. But he ended up more compassionate than I ever would have figured.

I mean, one thread here has a 2 year old that knows how to pick a lock.
I didn't learn how to do something like that till I was 7.

You know...the one that says Massachusetts hasn't fallen into the ocean, or been overrun by plagues of locusts, or seen its entire population turned into pillars of salt because we were the first state to allow same sex marriage.

Oh, and heterosexual couples are living their lives the same as they did before gay marriage became legal here.

Heterosexual couples are still having children, and lots of homosexual couples are even adopting children nobody else wants.

They are crazed. Equal protection will win out!

you would hear their whining without your aids.
I am almost ashamed to see the RW suffer.

For years we used closed captioning while we worked different shifts. I wrote many letters to networks and C-SPAN about their captioning of political shows. I taught data entry to deaf and hearing impaired about 40 years ago and my experience has made me sensitive to the issue of correct captioning without editorializing.
