once in a while people get my name slightly wrong

it really makes me cringe, I'm not sure why. It's just a mistake after all. And I'm sure I get people's names wrong at least as often as the other way around. I hate it when I do that too.

Is that the same with everyone?

But during official business or at a doctors office, it gets used. I cringe. Sometimes I refuse to respond. I hate my first name. HATE IT!

I don't know if it's laziness, or their unfamiliarity with anything other than anglo sounding names. It's an Italian name three syllables, but I've heard it pronounced with 4 or 5 syllables and transposed consonants. It's like they just see the first and last letters and then just blurt out whatever they please between the beginning and end.

Seriously I have to use the NATO phonetic alphabet to help people spell it correctly. At Safeway food stores, the checkers always try to thank you by your name, I had to sign-up for a card without my name I felt so bad for them everytime. I don't cringe, but had I known, I might have thought harder about keeping my maiden name, it was so easy to spell and say. I am not attached to any of my names though, you are different, sorry that it makes you uncomfortable, that would be a daily trial for me.

And my middle name (which I use) is a few letters long and all three
names start with the same letter.

People tongue twist it unmercifully.

because I didn't want to embarrass her. But she kept doing it and I thought - it will just embarrass her more if I let her go on. So I corrected her. And now I know her name.
