Of addition and multiplication. It's

4x-6y+10.

Since there are no more like terms to combine, you can't simplify this one any further.

I misread as (4x-2)*(3y-5) I blame it on my eyes.

2. Algebra is just a tool. And a very useful one once one learns it. You might as well invoke a

a plague on learning Spanish or any other second language.

9. This is quite true --

If you are in a scientific or technical field. At least a foreign language is useful in a variety of fields, especially Spanish or Mandarin Chinese.

11. Actually, algebra and even trigonometry are pretty useful tools in everyday life.

I've used trig doing carpentry work and algebra in product cost analysis, building cost models, etc. Now calculus...that's just crazy math.

3. Never understood algebra. I don't know how I passed in school.

In my opinion, algebra is useless, since I have never had to use it in my everyday life or in the work world.

6. I used to love algebra.

Geometry was meh but algebra and trig were fun. Calculus killed me. I couldn't do it.

15. I failed Calculus twice. The only reason I passed the third time I tried is that

the teacher was once an English teacher and was able to explain the reasoning behind it.

Algebra, calculus...what's the problem? Dead easy.

On the other hand, at the age of 61, I've finally worked out how to saw a piece of wood square.

And car engines? Open up the bonnet and it's just too complicated. Been like that since I was 15.

My dad was a car mechanic (and a very good one) and my brother was a carpenter (and a very good one) before he went into nursing. My kids are hopeless at maths. Sometimes, something just skips.
