The latest toy craze...

Figures for the videogame, "Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures."

The figures are used with a "portal" ( a little platform,) that the figure is placed on and then that character appears in the game.

But certain characters are being sold at absurd markups on eBay.

The figures are $8, I just saw one guy who's starting bid for a "Cynder" figure is $200.

Ths is getting worse than the "Pokemon" craze.

I ordered a set from Toys-R-Us (the Pirate ship adventure) and they just emailed me that they were cancelling the order due to inability to fill it. I guess they took the order thinking more stock was coming in.

I know from now on I'm just going to stockpile the pieces my son wants. I'll preorder (as long as it's normal price - $8-$9 for singles, $19-$24 for multi/adventure packs), then hold them in the closet for 'giftable' occasions.

I heard from the GameStop rep the other day that there was an older gentleman that was coming into the local shop and one up the highway. He was popping in several times a week and cleaning them out of single figures. They are going to be made in 'waves'. Once the next wave comes out, they'll stop making/shipping the previous sets.
