I'm a big fan of the director of that film, Philip Ridley. You should check out some of his other films. They're like what David Lynch would make on a month-long mescaline trip.

Cage is one of those actors that either really sucks or absolutely shines when he's in a movie. Mostly he sucks but Adaptation is one of the best of his movies. And Meryl Streep was robbed of an Oscar.

Nicolas Cage was actually playing a RL character - the screenwriter Charlie Kauffman. For awhile people really believed that Charlie did have a twin brother, the twin Donald even got his name listed as the screenwriter for the movie "Adaptation".

Because he was listed, he got a nomination too. So not only was it the first time a fictional character was nominated for an Oscar, it was probably also the first time an actor was nominated for playing the role of someone who was up for an Oscar nomination that same exact year.

All of the "monster" movies, all of the Lee / Cushing stuff. I am a big fan of the original black and white Universal Frankenstein / Dracula / Wolfman films...Hammer came along and did the unthinkable, which was to re-visit the genre and place their own indelible stamp on it. The Universal and Hammer movies (along with things like Night of the Living Dead and Horror of Party Beach) were staples of the Saturday afternoon / evening "Creature Feature" shows I loved as a teenager. At the time, cable TV didn't exist. Thinks like "Creature Features" and "Midnight Special" and "Don Kirschner's Rock Concert" were the ONLY game in town.

Most twins are actually used in movies involving a baby or toddler. It's possible that some have gone on from there, but mostly they use twins to rotate feeding and screaming time with availability for filming time.

used to play monster movies after the Saturday morning cartoons ended. This is going back to the early-to-mid '70s. I was really young at the time, so there's not much logic behind it. I just found it really weird that they always talked in unison and seemed to be carried around in somebody's pocket in a large oyster shell until somebody needed them to call Mothra. Also I kind of found them creepy in the way that Chucky from Child's Play or Talky Tina from The Twilight Zone were.

I believe that is what they called it.

After the morning cartoons, you could watch a Creature Double Feature.
