A Pennsylvania woman says packing a prosthetic penis got her fired from her job. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Pauline Davis, who was contemplating a gender change, wore the device to the J&J Snack Foods plant in South Jersey.
In a federal civil rights complaint filed in U.S. District Court last week, Davis says she confided in several co-workers about the device, and that someone told management.
The 45-year-old woman is claiming gender and gender-identity discrimination because "another male employee had taken hormone treatments and wore female prosthetic devices and dressed in female clothing, however this male employee was treated more favorably in so far as he was not terminated or disciplined in any way for wearing a female prosthetic or female clothing."
Davis' lawyer, Lalena J. Turchi, told the newspaper that Davis' fake penis was concealed and "in no way interfered with her ability to do her job."

I ask because the article makes it sound like she was in her place of employment talking about her packer unsolicited to coworkers...if that were true, I might fire her too as it is sexually-inappropriate for the workplace and could be construed as sexual harassment depending on the content and context of the conversations.
One of my first bosses was a pre-op transsexual who was saving up for the surgery and wore dresses, makeup and prosthesis and who lived some days as a man and some as a woman. It was fine with me, it was not even a topic of conversation-as boring as discussion of grass-growing...but if Paul/Diana had ever talked to me about their genitalia in any degree of explicitness, I'd have gone to management.
