My wife and son kept nagging me to get a Ninja Blender. So, two weeks ago at Bell's Nursery I purchased the "Pro" for 99 bucks.
Now we are all hooked. I make at least one batch a day...so does son.
I feel so refreshed whenever I have a tall glass. My hearing becomes more acute and my sight achieves a wonderful clarity. And the taste is simply exquisite!!!
My Favorite Resipe is so superbly simple.
2 trays of ice
2 cups plus of Kiwi, Strawberries, Blueberries, Pineapple and Banana
2 small containers of yogurt (any flavor)
1 small bottle of apple juice
3 tablespoons of Raw Honey
Blend to acceptable Texture
We can't stop drinking these smoothies....
I feel the end is....gulp...near

(2,692 posts)for every individual...For awhile I was thinking of getting a Vitamix. The price was daunting, but I'm a cook so it seemed worthwhile. When I saw the Ninja and the price I just decided to go for that. It does seem to work just fine!

(16,950 posts)Magic Bullet instead. Costco had a $10 instant rebate off their already $5 lower price, so it came to $35. Ninja was tempting; I think I made a mistake. I've been holding out for a Vitamix as someone else mentioned. I've been doing smoothies too and am also addicted, but I've been adding protein powder to mine. I've been using those pasteurized egg whites and they make it a little creamier without adding yogurt if you want to save some carbs. Otherwise, yogurt is perfect in them; it's so healthy anyway, what's a few more carbs.
I think I should have gone for the Ninja. It sounds like a good compromise between the Vitamix and the Magic Bullet, which takes a while to pulverize ice.

(2,692 posts)I believe the Ninja Pro is the way to go.
The only thing it really can't do properly is juice. Obviousley pulp is the problem.
Otherwise the Ninja scoffs at the kung fu of others!
You have disquaced my sister and defiled a shao lin temple! For that you must die!

(16,950 posts)I'll put it on my list. The smoothies are my main thing right now anyway. The Magic Bullet even has to work hard to pulverize blueberries, but I've put up with it because it's cheap and a good small size to transport, but I would like more power.

(16,350 posts)I could look it up but you seem eally in the know. Love to here you tell it. Thx!

(2,692 posts)The engine is more powerful and becouse it is made of higher quality materials. The engine is so powerful it crushes 2 ice trays of cubes plus raw fruit etc in seconds to the consistancy of smoothies you buy commercially.

(16,350 posts)Me too. LOVE MY SMOODIES!!! Once or twice a week, I throw in the blender:
Frozen organic fruit from Trader Joe's
(Strawberries, blueberries, mango, sometimes raspberries or blackberries)
Frozen pineapple chunks (can't find organic)
At least one fresh banana -- must have banana!!!
A peeled orange
A sliced apple or whatever other fresh fruit I have on hand
A big dollop of vanilla yogurt
Water and/or almond milk (or soy milk)
Blend blend blend til it's super smooth
Doesn't need ice because of the frozen fruit, but I use fresh fruit + ice sometimes too, like you. Summer is the best because of all the peaches, plums, etc.
Drink a big glass and refrigerate the rest. I get 3-4 good-sized smoothies out of it.
Next day, if there's some left, I add another fruit, an orange or whatever's on hand to freshen it up.
I am SO GLAD there are other smoodie lovers. I am vegetarian and this is my favorite way of 'eating' fruit when I don't have time to make a fruit salad. I can't wait til morning to have my smoodie!!!
