is the reason I so much enjoy foreign and independent films. Foreign films, particularly due to the cultural and/or political differences as well as plot differences. I go to a lot of movies, usually two or more a weekend. A couple of weeks ago, I went to three in one day -- all at the same theater. Didn't make sense to go home and go back to the theater another day so I just stayed. Hollywood does a good job of special effects movies, but the star of the movies is always the special effects. I can easily do without the special effects if there is a good plot and character development.

I also enjoy movies from the 30's and 40's -- most aren't re-makes of anything else. Some are re-makes of silent films, but it improves the movie to have sound. It was awful when they re-made The Women but I nearly puked when I saw they are re-making Mildred Pierce! What a sacrilege!!

I'm with you on the foreign film thing. I was out when they started making movie remakes of bad tv shows.
