Applebee's is coming to San Francisco

http://insidescoopsf.sfgate.com/blog/2013/05/09/applebees-is-coming-to-san-francisco/

San Francisco locations of Chevy’s might be dropping like flies over the last several years (for these keeping track, we’re down to one remaining, same as Olive Garden), but the City by the Bay is getting its first Applebee’s.

According to liquor licenses applications, the chain restaurant that bills itself as a “taste of the neighborhood” is plotting its first San Francisco location. It’s slated to be found on Fisherman’s Wharf, unsurprisingly, where it should fit in nicely with its new neighbors like the Rainforest Cafe and Bubba Gump’s; the official address is 2770 Taylor Street, which is just off Jefferson.

Currently, there are Bay Area Applebee’s outposts in Alameda, Union City, San Ramon and San Rafael, among others. No word yet on an anticipated opening date for the San Francisco branch, or anything official from Applebee’s (reps are neither confirming nor denying, but this is the local franchisee), but I, for one, am looking forward to a potential Beth Spotswood Tourist Trapped installment.

So those of you seeking fine dining at Fisherman's Wharf will now be satisfied. If only I could say the same for Times Square.

One chain restaurant I'm glad we got is "Native Foods" yummy vegan food. But, there are lots of other vegetarian restaurants in Chicago. (sorry I went off on a tangent.)

That's why I chuckled when I read that article. I miss Chicago for a million reasons, food is right up at the top.

No need to apologize for your tangent. You should hear me when I go off when someone tells me a 'great' restaurant just opened up in town. Arizona is not known for food. We have about 8 million 'Mexican' restaurants and only 3 of them are any good.

Never set foot in Applebee's once ... yet I have enjoyed thousands of delightful meals at local restaurants and food carts ...

How could that be?

and that's the only one in SF. So visitors from outside CA are actually getting something real, sort of.

Near Kansas City, I believe.

But you can continue to not eat there. One critic described their entrees as "well-slathered".

The wharf is for people who want to go to San Francisco without going to San Francisco.

When they can get a San Francisco-themed hotel/casino up in Vegas, the Wharf is done.

I've been to SF. I don't remember having any trouble at all finding something good to eat at Fisherman's Wharf.

I don't remember the names of the places. I remember that they were good, though.

Can we meet up?

Rice-a-Roni is actually the "San Leandro Treat"; it's made in that city of 80,000 across the Bay near Oakland. As, I might add, is Ghirardelli chocolate.
