Whole Paycheck tricks vegans into eating meat

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/10/18170869-whole-foods-mixes-up-chicken-vegan-salads

Whole Foods Market Inc. says labels on a chicken salad and those on a vegan version of the salad were reversed at some of its cold food bars in the Northeast.

Whole Foods says the mislabeled salads - a curried chicken salad and a vegan curried "chick'n" salad - were sold in 15 stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. They were sold on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I don't understand why vegans have stuff labeled with 'meat' names anyway. If it ain't chicken, don't call it 'chick'n'.

know that anything labeled chick'n is fake meat. I don't like it myself. Tastes like cardboard. I am surprised that those people could not tell the difference. Maybe they thought that the fake chicken had been improved.

I'm not being snarky - just curious.

I suppose they were happy that the fake stuff had been improved for a minute there. I figured a strict vegan would be able to tell the difference right away.

Morningstar sells some fake beef/steak strips. I've also had some fake sausage that is very convincing made by them. The fake bacon isn't good at all in my opinion.

Seriously, give some of the stuff a shot. My kids love it and I don't feel guilty feeding them veggie togs, veggie burgers, and fake chik'n nuggets all the time.

intentional, I think I would not be too upset (if I were a vegan, I mean).

However, I have been intentionally duped a couple of times into eating a certain kind of meat I personally find objectionable.

As a result, I have trust issues regarding food being cooked/served by others.

the vegan version contains soy, while the omnivore one has egg.

anything in a Chinese restaurant. The ones I've been to have no concept of vegetarianism. Sure it's vegetarian, oh, yes, it has chicken broth, but not meat.

I'm also surprised no one could tell, or maybe they could and just threw it out.

I buy fake meat. It's convenient having things in patty form, or veggie meatballs. I don't buy the stuff that actually tastes like meat, like Boca products, I find that revolting.

vegie burgers.

Or turkey burgers even.

The only complaint I have is that many of the fake meat things have spices added to them to the point that I can't eat them because they cause so much pain in my mouth.

I think they should offer two versions of things like turkey burgers or whatever...spicy, and bland, for those of us who can't tolerate spicy food.

I thought the were bad for thyroid issues, introducing hormones into our systems, causing, excuse me, moobs, and a whole other slew of bad.

She hasn't eaten meat since she was 7 years old. She always has me give things she suspects for meat the once-over. She has no idea what real meat tastes like.

However, that being said, she can't even eat the fake meat stuff. To her, it looks too much like an animal.
