Wonder how hard the camera person is laughing.
Hell he's young enough...
To recover fully. Me thinks.

(6,154 posts)What were they thinking would happen if things didn't go wrong? As far as I can see here he would have plowed into the ground at 20 mph anyway, Lol.

(490 posts)I'll be honest and say I never understood young men like this.
Not that I wasn't crazy when I was young. I was. I somehow got it in my head that I wanted to do 120 mph in the Sumner Tunnel but.... I prepared for it. I sat and watched and found the tunnel's lightest traffic was between 0130 and and 0400. I had a stop watch. I timed how long it took me to go a normal speed through the tunnel. I also timed slowpokes.
My reason for this prep? If I screwed up in that tiny two lane tunnel I was dead and so was everybody else with me. I finally decided not to use my car. It was a 1970 Lemans Sport Convertible. It had a 350 V8 but it was a heavier car, the frame designed to prevent roll overs. I was sure I could get to 120 with the Lemans but I wasn't sure if I could slow down fast enough. I borrowed my friend's muscled up Cutlass SS. He buckled up in the passengers seat and at around 0330 I timed the last car to enter the toll booth and waited for him to get out of that tunnel and then I went for it.
It was wild, like being in the twilight zone. It was a stupid thing to do but it was no jackass stunt.
