Sunday saw the best of America, of Appalachia, of our future.
Very inspiring, and I am one of those moms who cries a lot, too, so that makes it special
PLease join me in congratulating antigone382 on her fresh, shiny new degree in Sociology.
She is awesome .....and is cringing just to read that....
I am an awful mother, but I raised a powerful, funny, beautiful daughter.
Please forgive me my indulgence.
I can't DU much but hope all in the Lounge are doing well.

(3,682 posts)I'd rather not name names, but my school is intended exclusively for low income students, and guarantees full tuition to each and every one of them, in exchange for working a minimum of ten hours a week. I can say for certain that this school demonstrates that it is good sense to invest in the well-being of the poor. It has really surpassed all my dreams of what college would be like, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the school's generosity and commitment to social justice. I wish all schools could be this way.
