Episode 9 - the Rains of Castamere. Since it features music and a wedding, I expect a light-hearted romp through the Riverlands.
(no spoilers from book readers, please)

(34,103 posts)From someone who loved the books and did not love the show for a long while I have to say I missed it last week. This will be a great episode.

(56,828 posts)I remember reading it the first time way back in 2000 and my jaw was hanging open while I was reading that Catelyn chapter, and then the Arya chapter.
And, even when I re-read it 11 years later before A Dance with Dragons came out, it was still pretty emotional.

(34,103 posts)I can't believe you read these so long ago! I just discovered them 1 1/2 years ago and it took me a year (because of too much other stuff that was taking WAY too much time away from those books!) to read them all. I need to read them again. I should start soon and go slowly and pick up the parts I missed. I think I will actually buy the books. My very old Kindle makes it very difficult to go back and forth and I could have used that the first time around!
It should be a busy episode. It blew my mind too. I was not expecting any of it.
I gotta say, about the series on HBO, it solidified my love of the character Tyrion. LOL, such a great character even if he is not such a great guy. Complex and funny and I absolutely adore Peter Dinklage as that character.
Rats, it is only Friday

(56,828 posts)back from my youth in the 70s through my daughter being born in 2003, and much of that reading was Fantasy or Science Fiction.
However, I'm normally pretty cheap, but after reading A Game of Thrones in paperback, I bought A Clash of Kings right when it came out in hardcover in 1998, and did the same in 2000 with A Storm of Swords. I rarely buy hardcovers.
I'm going to hide this text next, in case somebody is reading this thread. But - I believe - Not counting the prologues and epilogues, Catelyn is the only person to die in their own Point of View chapter. Ned was executed in an Arya chapter.

Seemed very random to me, IMHO.

(45,558 posts)Hooked on the show.
I have On Demand with my cable so I can watch episodes twice. There are so many threads to get it all straight with just one read or view for me.
I read the books, but after Feast of Crows, and his afterword, it just frustrated and ticked me off.
I also tend to like the fact that the characters are older in the show.

(45,558 posts)Just watch Season One again on HOgo.com. They have all the episodes available in UDTV.
I'm watching S3 E8 right now to prepare for Sunday.
