It's a funny episode (Mulder is hilarious in his over the top macho bravado) - you won't enjoy it if you take it too seriously! There was another earlier geeky episode by the same writer or director but I forget the name of that one. I liked the geeky, funny episodes.

Engage it, and then tentatively resolve the situation in 44 minutes.

As I recall it was a classic: Mulder and the sweet potato pie, and the smoking alien. Bleepin' good.

From IMDB:

The story of two teenagers who were abducted by aliens interests popular writer Jose Chung. He seeks out Scully to retell her account of what happened, but everybody else has different views. Who are the mysterious Men in Black, and are we really alone in the universe? Written by EJS.

I had almost forgotten how good The X-Files series is.

Skip to Californication---shows David Duchovny even hotter.

JK--kinda. Too lazy to look up (sorry) but the one with the twins.

a shape-shifting alien pretends to be Mulder and is loving toward Scully.

I also like the one in which Mulder and Scully give separate accounts of a story. In Scully's rendition, the small-town sheriff is handsome and cool. In Mulder's, the sheriff is a dweeb.

Thanks for posting the name of it. I wonder if it's on You Tube. If it is, I'm going to watch it again.

EDITED to say, it's on You Tube!

EDITED AGAIN to say, so far all I've found are segments of it. Shucks.

a circus, and found that guy with a live, small brother attached to his body.

Most disturbing, def, was "Home." Holeee shiiiit.

That one where Scully and Mulder had totally different versions of the happenings in a small town with the sheriff was a vampire story-also very good and funny.

Also the one set in the 1940s when they are on an ocean liner with some nazis.

Oh! How about the one when they pretend to be the perfect suburban couple, Rob and Laura! LOL
