is a couple of drops of almond oil on some super-fine steel wool. Rub with the grain, gently, to avoid scratching -- this takes off the surface dirt and grime without harming the finish significantly (I assume it MUST take off some some the finish/varnish/whatever, on a microscopic level).

the actual tounge and groove thick stuff. My parents were so proud of that feature they made us kids Liquid Gold it about twice a year.

It would earn us an extra dollar or so on our allowance that week.

I can still smell that not unpleasant smell it has.
