I went with a former boyfriend when he wanted to buy an XKE convertible. We took it out for a test drive. It started to rain and the roof leaked like a sieve. Needless to say, he didn't buy it, but bought a Cadillac instead.

...I'd prefer either of these:

This is CSX 3015. One of 2 Cobras modified by Shelby to "Super Snake" trim with dual super chargers. The other, CSX 3303, driven exactly once by Bill Cosby, inspired the famous "200 mph" routine. (See the link below.)

It looked mostly unassuming apart from the hood. I remember it sold at auction for a ridiculous amount of money.

and going pretty fast to get out of the rain, close to 100, but the rain soaked us anyway. Even a Jaguar can't outrun rain.

stayed totally dry, except a wee drip from the upper corner that wet my left arm a tiny bit.
The back seats get a bit damp on the top edge, sometimes. And if you raise your arm high it gets soaked!! But I stay dry. It's fun too!

Regardless of costing a lot less, I still like the Datsun 280ZX better than any other car. The best model imo was the 1983 Turbo 2+2 T-top. I owned one from new for 25 years, and my late husband raced them (as team owner and master mechanic, not the driver) at Summit Point. If I had all the money in the world to burn, I would still find a restored 1983 ZX to buy, over anything else. Maybe someday again, who knows.
