Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsPhotos from a gig last Saturday night.
Had a lot of fun, crowd got into it.
And yes, in the third pic that's an honest to gawd 1960 Hammond B3. Sweetest thing you ever heard.

And it ALWAYS makes me feel good to see someone who won't rationalize
themselves into a "Hammond/Leslie computerized program" trap/crap.

MFM (many years ago): Earl, I LOVE the sound of a Hammond/Leslie
combination... but that's GOT to be a bear to haul around to gigs. Ever
think of going "computer program"?
.
Earl Rice (leader of an AWESOME R&B quartet of musicians in their 60'S
and 70'S): Nah... gots t'have them tubes, baby... though after age 60,
I DID stop takin' on 2nd-floor gigs.

An AMAZING bunch of musicians -- the sax/vocalist (in his 70's and still
with a day job as a carpenter) would climb up on the bar and duckwalk
Chuck Berry style as he blew that horn.

(19,361 posts)You're right, nothing compares to the Hammond/Leslie sound. Our keyboard player has a very cool dolly arrangement that is semi-permanently attached to the Hammond and the wheels lever down into position. It's actually quite easy to move around. The trick is finding the real estate on the stage for it. Definitely worth the effort though.

(9,958 posts)He loads up $5,000 worth of equipment into a $500 van for a $50 gig.

(19,361 posts)He's probably like me though, playing for the pure love of it. Doubt I'll ever stop.

(1,135 posts)I've loved the blues since my teens, when I wandered into a blues club on a side street in downtown Philly, in the late '50s'. I've never been the same since.
You truly look like a fun group!
Honoring bass men everywhere.................

(19,361 posts)LOL These are some demo tunes we did before we added our keyboard player. We did these on tracks, so they don't really capture the energy we have on stage, but at least you'll get a taste of Cold Blue, and thanks for the props!

(1,135 posts)......some sweet shit, you're putting out! All three are different, which I appreciate the most in musicians. There are some really talented ones, but with many, it's you've heard one, you've heard them all, so to speak.
I'm listening again to "Matchbox" and could listen over and over to that one and "All Your Love", many times over; which I will do tonight. All three are now in my youTube favs.
What rates a really good blues song for me, is one that I can imagine myself doing a strip tease to it..... a little bump and grind in the back-beat. Not that I would, nor would anyone want me to.... It's just nearly every woman's fantasy............
I know that nothing compares to live. I have some live concert CDs' of ones I actually did see and hear. And while it's a joy to relive it, hearing the CD, the energy, like you said, just doesn't match-up.
A few years back, I was fortunate enough to see The Uppity Blues Women/Saffire. I have the actual concert they did on CD, signed. And a signed t-shirt by all of them. But since Ann Rabson passed, I can't listen without starting to bawl like a baby.
Thank you so much for granting my wish - it was more than sort of, too!
I'm down in the south east now, so we don't get much in the way of blues here. My dream is to go to Chicago, before Buddy Guy dies (and before I do) and see him perform live.

(19,361 posts)Glad you enjoyed our tunes. I'd live to see Buddy too, hope we both get the chance!

(1,587 posts)One nice thing about being a middle aged musician; we can afford really
nice gear. Snappy clothes as well.

(1,135 posts)I'm in the NW (Panhandle) part of Fl. and we rarely get any blues bands here. Once a year BB King comes, but that's about it.
A year or so ago, Irma Thomas came to Mobile, AL and the tickets sold out so quick, I never had a chance. She rarely does any shows anymore. I love her voice and am always blown away, listening to her.
I miss living in the NE area, where there are many blues clubs and lots of live music venues. But family and grandchildren are here, so that's more important
