(20,176 posts)I was in a pissed-off tizzy. They were posted in the span of about 90 minutes in advance of a 10-day DU hiatus.

Took me over ten years to get 12,000 posts.
Took you less than 3 years to get to 14,000.
MIRT and hosting multiple forums?
I could never do that,
nor do I want to.
Some may think I'm on the web 24/7, but I'm not.
Yup, my computer is, but I go outside (I have a large property in the bush - 28 acres) wander around, do some chores, then come back in and check Facebook, DU, my hotmail, google news, weather and so on.
I'm retired, live alone, so my "days" are not what most others are.
I eat when I want, I sleep when I want,
Usually get 2 "days" out of one.
I don't sleep much at any one time - usually 3-4 hours - age does that to some;
So - I get almost 8 hours sleep in 24, but 4 hours twice a day.
It's 2:20am here, so I know it's only 11:20pm on the west coast.
And I get to keep in touch with people that are still up.
Actually did a few chores inside while doing this post.
I ain't glued to my computer.
Ponder that.

(28,394 posts)I was off work for seven weeks last spring and couldn't do much... I got so bored with the TV and computer that I begged the doctor to let me go back to work! LOL
I don't know how I will fill the days when I do eventually retire. After working all my life, I never really developed "hobbies". Even the word sounds boring to me.

I live on 28 acres, heat mostly with wood. Just bought the property so bought my firewood this year, but will be cutting my own off the property in the near future. Then theres' the splitting and the piling - taking my time, that's a healthy activity for me.
Winters can be harsh, driveway is long, so then snow shoveling/blowing/plowing kicks in.
Cheap on hydro, so haul rainwater for laundry/dishes and so on from my rain barrels,
another healthy activity as long as I don't rush it.
Lots of upgrading to do to the house, so construction work as well, most which I am capable of doing myself.
Also I cut over an acre of lawn, most of it with a riding mower,
but at least I'm outside where I love to be, weather permitting.
My body likes my habits, so I shall carry on.
I like being busy, no problem there.
Got plenty to do,
and luvin' it.

I cannot maintain steady physical work the way I used to, I go out to do some choring,
when my wimpy arm starts bothering me, or I get hot or cold, I come inside to warm up/cool down, give my arm a rest -
and here I am!

(72,300 posts)Your higher post count shows you are hard at work looking out for DU.

(53,339 posts)My post count rose dramatically when I was part of a small group updating a series of live threads on the Libyan Revolution for some 7 months.
But my post count includes a lot of "LOLs" and the like giving props to other members. It's not like I've posted a lot of original essays.
HappyMe
(20,277 posts)I'm not one of those people that post profound essays or anything. I cranked up the post count when I was on MIRT and also when the husband started working more hours.

(13,324 posts)In six years I've just barely managed 5,000 posts, though that does include a lengthy period (2010-2012 or so) when my account was mostly idle, with very little posting.
