The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy son turned 21 today. Took him to lunch and bought him his 1st legal beer!
Time flies. Seems like just yesterday were playing hide and go seek in the backyard and horsey back rides on the living room floor.
He's getting ready to head back down to SLO to continue school. Sure going to miss him.

(6,154 posts)He's got some great years ahead of him!
Wish I could turn back the clock to that age. I'm still only 31 but I've spent the past decade or more dealing with issues I'd rather not have. I won't say they are wasted years cause they have helped me to build character and I am who I am, I won't every deny that. But it certainly could have been easier (though I can count my blessings that it could certainly have been much worse too).

(19,360 posts)You're at a great age, I really enjoyed my thirties!
You know we all experience issues, and while yours may have been more trying than others have had to deal with it sounds like you've learned from them and that my friend is all anyone can ask for!

(22,057 posts)(At least that's my excuse!). Absolute best wishes to your son-may he have a full, rich, funny educational life that he won't regret when he's old and feeble.
What a fantasy for me at 59 to imagine being 21 again. It'll just keep getting better and better for him. May he enjoy it to the fullest.

(18,101 posts)legal drink. We love Mexican, so I took her to a local Mexican bar and grill. The hostess asked us if we needed a kid's menu and I busted up laughing. It was a pretty good punch, and I didn't see it coming.
It's great that you got to do that, bluesbassman. Your son will probably always remember it fondly. I was 2000 miles from home when I turned 21. I wish I could have shared that first legal drink with Dad.

(19,360 posts)Yes, it'll be a great memory for the both of us.

(25,816 posts)He's a big strong lad, and it was strange going out to dinner with him lately and hearing him order a Dr Pepper.
I realized, hell, he's not 21 yet. By the way, I listened to your band in a recent post and like what I heard.
We also cover "All your Love"-I first heard it in 67 or 68 on the great Bluesbreakers album- Mayall, Clapton and McVie.

(19,360 posts)Thanks for the props on the music. All Your Love is a great tune and covered by a lot of fine Bluesmen. Our version is closest to Otis Rush's take on it.

(51 posts)I remember my 21st birthday all too well. I proceeded to get hammered for several hours on that special occasion, after drinking about 2-3 whole bottles of Jack Daniels. Of course the hangover I got afterwards wasn't exactly pleasant...
