every week a guy would come in, a farmer, single, smoking stogies, RIPE beyond words. He would slowly walk the aisles purchasing his groceries, leaving his smell everywhere.
The checker decided to try something, she bought some bar soap, and slipped it into one of his bags while he was checking out.
Though the next week, it was more of the same.

I remember when I was in the first grade, a classmate and I got our rubber overshoes mixed up (yes, kids wore these to school in the wintertime). We easily figured out which were which. His smelled like pig shit and mine did not. He was a farm kid.

My 16 year old son has some friends that live in million dollar houses and still stink.

I had a roommate in college who showered every day. He smelled because he did not do his laundry often enough.

At the next stop, a woman would board and for some reason, would often sit next to me. She was a very pleasant woman, friendly, well dressed. But she smelled like she smoked 60 a day. Never BO, just ciggies.

Bah.

But somehow he didn't look like he had just gotten off work at some dirty, smelly job either.

We had showers at work even but it doesn't matter, there is no way to work in a foundry and not leave smelling like you just spent the last 10 hours sweating through your uniform in 100'F heat standing over a 1300'F furnace.

I never got to know any of the people on my bus route but I felt terrible for them because I could smell me.
