I am boned.. Stuck in Phoenix until Sunday morning.

I'm a trucker, running almost exclusively between Southern California and the Chicago area. My run to Chicago was tripped up by a delay in off loading due to a problematic asshole at one of my regular stops.

The assclown in question had been demoted, and banished deep in the cold storage warehouse about 6 months ago. While he was in exile everything was hunky-dory.

Well I found him back at his old receiving position, and I was delayed for no good reason for the better part of the day. That caused a delay picking up my return load, a rare run to Phoenix.

I missed my appointment by 12 hours and now I have to wait until Sunday morning to drop, which means I can't grab the load scheduled for me to take back to L.A.

So now I'm stuck in a truck, in the Sonoran Desert, for the weekend.

How's your A/C? Phoenix generally runs 10 degrees or so hotter than here in Tucson. MiddleFingerMom Aug 2013 #2
The A/C can keep up while moving if I run it in both the cab & sleeper. denbot Aug 2013 #6

I'm in Phoenix. Where are you? Maybe we can find you and have coffee/drink/something. It's no fun to be stuck by yourself somewhere and here this time of year especially!

Too damn hot in the truck, and I did not want to waste fuel idling to run the A/C.

I need to get some sleep, but coffee or better yet iced tea sounds like fun.

You are right about the fuel costs to run the AC.

If you like, email me at dsjwvu at gmail with where you're at, your name, etc.

Would it be worth finding a cheap(er) motel with good A/C for your stopover?

I don't envy you your plight. Stay as cool as possible.

As you know it's 109f and I did not want to know if my A/C could or could not keep the cabin cool sitting on a hot asphalt lot, so I called the boss (Alley) to let her know that it would be a good idea to spring for a hotel room to beat the heat.

She keeps me on a pretty tight travel budget, but I had her when I asked her if she would leave a dog in a sealed truck..

The company is nation wide, and we only have problems at his location. We don't know why he was demoted the last time, but he was smart enough to work his way back in to his old position so I doubt if he would make the same mistake twice..

As long as the assclown in question does not violate policy, or hamper the core business, what happens to ancillary support vendors probably does not even show up on management's radar.
