Got a job interview Friday morning. It pays $2 more an hour than what I'm getting now.
Supposed to be similar work, which isn't good, but I could sure use the money. It's through another agency, temp work again, but that's what's out there right now. I'll have to ask about long term prospects. I need to work at least another 15 months or so. I was kind of getting to like some of the people at the current place, but for $80/week, I can make new friends.
Anyway, wish me luck.

You can also stay friends with people from your old job after you take the new job.

(58,604 posts)So I get another call today about employment. It's from another lady at the same agency that called my yesterday.
Still on for the interview, but she may be expanding the scope of what jobs might be available. Although, I have to wonder a bit about communications on their end.
They like me. They really, really like me.
Anyways, thanks for all the support, guys. It's been really great to read all of your comments.

(58,604 posts)but the woman sensed my indecisiveness. I'll explain.
I've been working temp jobs for 3 years now through agencies. This would have been another such position, though at a bit higher wage.
But I go to work Thursday night and the shift supervisor there informs me that they want to pick up my option, that is, hire me on as a regular full-time employee. No raise involved, but the company picks up the tab for health insurance and such. Plus, of course, they pay holiday pay for Thanksgiving and Christmas, etc.
So, is the extra scratch I would get at the other (temp) position minus the cost of their insurance worth more than the relative increase in security of being an actual emplyoyee of a company? How much is the emotional investment in the friends I've made/met worth? It's actually a pretty decent group of folks. I've glanced through the packet they gave me and frankly, I've been out of touch. Back in the 80's/90's I would tell them to go fly a kite. But that was then and this is now. Probably not much out there any better for folks in my position.
So I have some decisions to make this weekend (still) and frankly, my decider hasn't been working too well the last few years. As they say, confidence is that feeling you have before you understand the situation.
