So...now I'm 71 years, 11 months, 29days, and approximately 23 hours old. Ask me anything.

Last edited Fri Aug 23, 2013, 06:14 PM - Edit history (2)

August 22, 1941, 6:03 PM, at St. Margret's Hospital, Montgomery, Alabama.
In another hour I'll be 72.
Ask me anything.

According to my birth certificate:
My parents were both 'white', as was I.
It was a 'live birth' for which I am still thankful.
It was a full term pregnancy.
Mother was 25, father was 27.
"Is mother married to father of this child?" "Yes"
I'm no bastard.

"Was a blood test for syphilis made on the mother of this child during pregnancy?"
"Yes"
The results are not given. One can only hope.
"Congenital malformation? (Specify whether club foot, cleft palate, etc.)
Actually I DO have a 'congenital malformation'. My pinky toe on my right foot is cojoined with the next toe. I have a webbed foot.

Some interesting stuff on a birth certificate from 1941 Alabama.

In 1941 we didn't do daylight time.
So 6:03 then would be 7:03 now.
Have I got my head right on this?

I still manage about 2 1/2 miles of Nordic Walking on level pavement every morning.
Takes me about 45 minutes.
Then I'm through for the day.

Congratulations, newlywed.

Miz t; and I have been married for 44 years.
The 'secret' is never to run each other down.
Not even in jest.

OK, after about 40 years you can jest...a little

She has been my rock through thick and thin.
And we've had two or three 'thins' when I was laid off from my job as an airline pilot.
She went back to work as our 'cash cow' to help put our daughter through college with no student loan.
It's hard to express how much I admire this lady.

Never go to bed pissed off at each other is also good, but sometimes easier said that done.

Anyway, best of luck to you two.

We spread a shower curtain on the floor.
Sat her highchair in the middle.
Put her in the chair.
Put the birthday cake on the tray.
And just let her go at it.
Followed by a bath and shampoo.

Do you agree with (below)?

* I feel as "young" (meaning, IMMATURE) as ever.

* I hate birthdays.

* Increasingly, others SEE me (on sight) as being an old geezer despite (the first point, above).

* Despite my not buying the generalization about younger generations being less polite, less educated, less thoughtful, etc., I do see some individuals as being bluntly disrespectful. I "joke" (not really) telling them I hate young people.

* Time is flying exponentially faster all the time.

* (Despite #1, above) I do notice memory gaps in grasping for words and such and how much of the lifespan past is erased.
