Robin THICKE?!1 Alan THICKE?!1 Robert PALMER?!1 *So* confusing!1

So COLBERT hosted this Robin fellow who has been making the rounds. But he looks and sounds like a clone of his pater, O.K. fine, but I keep thinking some Fundie kid is going to burst into the middle of his set with some sitcom problem to solve. And I'm a known non-courant of the pop culture, but it's like Robin sprung from nowhere from the head of Alan. I think I had seen/heard a brother of Alan's who also sounds/looks like him (dominant genes, those!1).

Then there was a news item about Robin preemptively suing the Marvin GAYE family who was claiming he ripped off some Marvin sounds, although the Robin suit contained a bon mot, paraphrasing, it's like they're claiming a WHOLE GENRE (rather than a couple of specific songs).

And then these few views these past weeks strongly bring to mind somebody else, who is that other dude with the suave veneer and the sophisticated back-up women? Robert... Robert... A different Robert's surname popped in my synapses, but it wasn't that one. Holy Zeus, Google has been a zeus-send to a failing memory!1 Doing less than 5 searches through Billboard's top hits of the '90s, '80s, '00s didn't succeed with who the Robert was, but what did work was to search the Billboard site for singers ("artists&quot named "Robert," and there he was: Robert PALMER.

So hadn't seen these in years, and "Addicted to Love" seems a little slow tempo, and a couple of the lengths of skirt a bit long, but who is Robin THICKE, and is he reliving classics from his growing up?!1

Hard today when the lines are so blurred.

Actually, he's been around a while in the rap/hip-hop world.

who LOVE Thicke's new song.

The radio has been discussing this topic. So many people claim they despise 70's stuff but they can't get enough of Thick's Blurred Lines. I immediately heard Got to Give It Up when I first heard Blurred Lines. Maybe it's because I am familiar with the 70's stuff.

But like one of the radio hosts pointed out, you assume the newer artist got permission because so many of them do that these days. They take parts of an old song and mix it with their new stuff. Had no idea about the lawsuit but yeah, it sounds ripped to me.

4. Great connoisseur insight, thanks! As for "no idea about the lawsuit," I'm going to LLC myself into

a wire service, bwah-HAH!1

But I don't get why somebody (Robin THICKE) "born on third base" so to speak, with all the inside advantages, that is, able to study at the highest level in order to strike an original path for himself, choose the ripoff route ALLEGEDLY. Can't be just greed since he started and built with plenty.

Otoh, I can't get past his clone appearance/sound of the dad.

What about the PALMER look and style? I had no idea he had died some ten years ago at the age of 50-something (cardiac).
