but going to the casino was much more entertaining, even if we paid seven bucks for two beers.

I took the casino bus in from 25 miles west of Atlantic City and she was going to pick me up and
drive us back down. The bus fare was $16, but on arrival, they gave you a $20 roll of quarters.
,
To get the quarters, you had to walk ALL the way through the casino to the back (the idea being
that you had to walk ALL the way back past the tables and the slots). I took my backpack and
guitar and walked back, growing increasingly uneasy. Got my quarters and started back -- really
starting to freak out now.
.
I had handled literal life-and-death situations where I was THE person responsible without any
kind of major anxiety and had never had anything close to a panic attack before, but I was
having one on that trip back. It was unbearable and by the time I got to the front doors, I was
literally RUNNING to get out. I went straight for the front lawn and took out my guitar to play
and calm down (security came over to remind me that I couldn't panhandle HAHAHAHA!!!)
.
I couldn't figure out what happened. A coupla weeks later, a friend reminded me that gambling
is mostly aggression -- and that I had been picking up STRONG vibes of that aggression
without knowing what it was or what was causing it. I panicked.
.
Didn't take 5-10 minutes of guitar (very bad guitar, TYVM) to calm me back down.
.
.
My friend and I drove back down that night. About halfway there we got hungry, but there
were just little beach communities with very few choices. We were in the mood for chicken,
but could find only burgers. We finally decided we really WANTED burgers and could find
only chicken, etc. etc. etc.
.
Did I mention we were stoned?
.
So we decided NO MATTER WHAT, we were going to go into the next restaurant we saw.
.
Turned out to be this cool little Italian place -- with the kitchen in the middle and a pizza
joint on one side and a very fine and expensive Italian restaurant on the other.
.
Because of the dense fog that night, NO ONE else was out and about -- we were the only
customers in the place. We ordered a medium pizza and our waitress came back and told
us that the kitchen staff was bored and asked if we'd mind if they fixed us up some free
stuff from the OTHER menu... on the house.
.
Duh.
.
We had, besides the pizza we paid for, a most incredible meal. Appetizers and salads and
entrees and dessert and in-between amuse-bouche goodies. We ate for HOURS and I bet
we had between 2-3 hundred dollars worth of food.
.
And it was incredible.
.
Once we were back on the road and almost to her place, we agreed that we had to return
there.
.
.
.
.
.
Except that neither one of us could remember the name of that tiny village we had been in
and, despite looking for it and asking others if they knew of it... we never could find it again.

(6,154 posts)I envy some of the experiences you have recounted here, and you tell them well.
As for the panic attack it certainly could have been aggression, but it could have been any number of other things too. It's not uncommon for people to have one or two panic attacks in their life even if they don't suffer from any type of emotional problem. Similar to seizures, unless you have more than 1 or 2 in your life most DRs just shrug it off as one of those "events".
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and could definitely see a casino triggering one.
but your dining experience sounds awesome and good dope doesn't hurt
Callmecrazy
(3,065 posts)to the Seminole Casino at Coconut Creek. Lost $200 but had a great time. I lived most of my life in Vegas and the casinos in Florida just don't have the same ambiance. In Vegas they at least make you think you might win. Here in Florida, not so much.
