Although I like quite a few from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, I have to say my absolute favorite has to be from the man in black himself.

(56,828 posts)They took a really good song and created a new hard rock version that was exciting and energetic.

Anyway, I always enjoyed this Black Sabbath cover.

(56,828 posts)by Edwin Starr. Great original song, changed by Bruce, but also excellent. Kind of appropriate these days with Syria on the horizon.

(56,828 posts)of the original from The Temptations... I think Starr's version is also a great cover, too.

(82,333 posts)I wonder how long they had to rehearse that to get it down pat. That's impressive.

(41,956 posts)There's a story behind the song, for those who don't know. Young @ Heart was/is a chorus made of people whose average age is 85, I think. They perform modern songs. But at that age, things happen. There were supposed to be two men singing. One went into hospital that morning. I believe he lived through that particular crisis, but mortality and the bittersweet sadness of age is poignant.
(Btw if you haven't seen the documentary, do.)

(4,465 posts)But here's a link to Santana covering Whole Lotta Love w/ Chris Cornell. One of my favorite Zep covers. Actually, I like/love most of the covers on this page, but Whole Lotta Love, the extra rhythm and grunge element in it is just so SO good.
