Well, unless you are an 80 year old geezer----then you were probably saying "bah, these kids and their music". Do you know who the group Queen was? I know you have heard some of their songs, even if you don't know it.

2:39 of my time gone forever.
But you kindly asked me to, so I did.
As long as I could bear it.

I was finally able to make out 'somebody to love'.
And something about 'working hard'.
The rest was unintelligible, at least to me.

It's just not my kind of music.
To me, it's not even music.
It's screaming into a microphone.
Possibly in a remarkable range.
In an undershirt.

When my daughter was three and threw a tantrum, she also had a remarkable range, but it sure wasn't music.

I raised 2 boys, mostly alone, and got exposed to a lot of their music, much of which I did like.
Perhaps then out of necessity...lol.
Heavy metal was not my thing, tho.
Queen I liked, they are more...intelligible....on a studio version of their by now many many famous songs.

I did not really appreciate his voice until the late '80's, sadly.
But made up for it, have all the songs now.
And they DO get played, loudly.

Well, there wasn't really any 'choice'.
It was booze or nothing.

Adam Lambert is pretty good, but Martel is the real deal. I'd never heard of him, but he absolutely blows me the fuck away. I've heard people who can sing the notes like Freddie, but I've never heard someone sing it with the same passion Freddie brought to the music. I love it!

My sister is a big Lambert fan. I'm not a Lambert fan at all. When the "Queen" tickets go on sale (and just like the venture with Paul Rodgers, it's NOT "Queen." it's the guitarist and the drummer and a bass player they hired and someone out front who's not Freddie), sales will probably come from a mix of legitimate Queen fans and the "Glamberts" (that's what my sister and her fellow Lambert fans like to call themselves).

But the surviving members of the band have the right to call themselves "Queen," so what can you say...

Should have been Martel. It wasn't. Life goes on.

Maybe Lambert is touring with the original members and Marc will tour with this group...

Your post is probably where I first heard about Marc Martel. Can not tell you how many times I have played that video. It gives me chills every time I listen to it.

...I think you're right. I thought Martel was auditioning for the "Queen Extravaganza" thing, so I was surprised to hear about the Brian May & Taylor going out on tour with Lambert.

If I had to choose between paying for a ticket to see Martel or to see Lambert, it would be no contest...even if Lambert will be flanked by two members of the "real" band.

Jeez. Queen has asked him to perform with them. If they think he's suitable, who are we to argue? I also heard George Michael perform with them, and thought he was quite good, too. Queen wants to tour, and they need a front man. Providing it's someone who has the chops, I don't see a problem with it at all.
