Sugar Hill Gang documentary.

I have just seen "I Want My Name Back,” on Netflix, a 2011 film about the Sugar hill Gang. It tells the story from the perspective of Master Gee and Wonder Mike. It recounts their rise to fame, and argues that they were robbed of their legacy, money, and eventually, even their names.
In my opinion their managers burned down the studio and offices to destroy the records of their crimes.
I was not familiar with this story at all and found it fascinating.

I moved from the SF Bay Area, where skating to Good Times was the current thing to do, to Manhattan, where break dancing was growing and in those moments Hip Hop was born.

It was pre-rap and, kind of like parts of the sixties and early seventies, there was hope, people were happy and thought things were just going to keep getting better and better.

Good times.
