Then
There is the song that greets the morning, which comes anywhere from 5am to 8:30am, but never before or after. Then there is the first feeding, which is an exercise in breathing; to wit: how much can she suck out of the bottle and not drown in the process. She hasn't killed herself yet, and eats more every day, so I take that as progress.
Then there is morning playtime, dappled in the morning light of this new place that seems to have been born for mornings. Then there is usually a nap after, before the song is sung again for the next feeding, which tends to be far less acrobatic than the first.
Then there is the day's exercise, which today was a long walk in the woods. There were dragonflys the size of eagles, and the place is infected with turkeys the way some places are infected with ants, and they fled in a flutter upon our approach, so the giant turkey feather we found in their wake was taken as as accidental gift, happily, to be saved.
Then, a nap. Then, another feeding. Then, a reading. Then, and then, and then, and it's bedtime, and caterwauling, NO, and then No, and then no...and then...
Then we do it again tomorrow.
Please and thank you, we do it again tomorrow.
