(41,956 posts)The article cites his beautiful use of language. When I was a kid I just wallowed in that. Dandelion Wine, October Country... I particularly loved The Emissary, the short story in the click-through article. It had a creepy Bradbury ending but what caught me was the beautiful description of the sick child whose dog went out into the world and brought all its wonders back to him. And Cougar and Dark's circus just floored me. So little sic-fi has that opulent use of language.

But I liked how Lem seems to be working out of a dank concrete bunker. Really fits with the tone of some of his books.
